HAPPY NEW YEAR AND WELCOME BACK!

January School Closure is Monday, January 16 in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Tax Records and Tuition Invoices – Some pre-kindergarten and childcare expenses are tax deductible.  To claim such expenses you must provide verification and our Federal ID# 52-6001692. Confer with a certified tax professional for details.  As noted in the handbook, page 15, we do ask that you save your monthly invoices throughout the year, as we are unable to generate a history of invoices at year’s end.

To assist you in this effort, please feel free to retain your original monthly invoices.  It is not necessary to enclose the invoice when making a tuition payment.  Always write the student name(s) on the memo line of your check, and the appropriate account will be credited.  This is especially important if the name on the check does not match that of the child.

Chick-fil-A and Pizza lunches begin this week.  Pizza is served on Wednesday and Chick-fil-A is served on Thursday.

Kindergarten through fifth grade report cards will be included in the next Tuesday Envelope scheduled to be distributed on Wednesday, January 18 due to the Monday holiday.  Please review the report, sign, and return as soon as possible.

Save the Date for Our Spring Auction Fundraiser!  Saturday, March 3 promises to be a wonderful evening at the Loews Annapolis Hotel.  The annual NAPS Spring Fundraising event will include silent auction items and live auction of classroom art.  Each student will make a great memento of the occasion as well! 100% of funds raised at the event directly support the educational experience of our NAPS students.

NAPS Association Members are also encouraged to support the effort by donating items suitable for auction or sponsoring the event through advertising in the program.  Look for more information in an upcoming Tuesday Envelope.

Transcript and Recommendation Requests – All requests for transcripts and teacher recommendations should originate in the Admissions Office.  Please do not deliver recommendation forms directly to classroom teachers.  A tracking system is in place to ensure accurate completion and timely delivery of all paperwork.  Please contact Melanie Pasiuk with any questions or concerns at mpasiuk@napschool.com.

Standardized Testing for kindergarten through fifth grade is scheduled for April 23-30.  Individual classroom teachers develop schedules within that time frame, and will inform you of details in early April.  As always, every effort will be made to make-up tests missed due to illness.  However, tests missed due absences for any other reason will remain incomplete.  Please plan accordingly.

The Box Tops for Education Program raised over $600 during this period!  We thank all those that have been collecting and sending in labels.  A special thank you to staff member and NAPS mom, Holly McKee for coordinating and maintaining the program.  All labels are appreciated and you may send in whatever you have accumulated through your Tuesday Envelope!

The Giving Tree fundraiser provided for over 100 local “Angels” in need.  We thank all of our participating NAPS families for their generous support.  Salvation Army volunteers were overwhelmed by our generosity.

The One Call Now Emergency Message System may be put into use in the coming weeks!  In the event of a delay or closure due to inclement weather, parents will receive notification on the home phone, personal cell phones, and email in addition to the traditional website information.  Please note the following:

  1. Only one message will be sent per event.
  2. Detailed information will also be available at the website.  As always,    please check the website before calling the school.
  3. Additional information regarding a specific event will be on the website only.  For example, you will be notified of an initial closing, but any additional snow days associated with a single weather event will be posted on the website and through Constant Contact Email when available.

In the past, some have reported the system did not leave a message on voicemail.  According to our One Call Now representative, this may occur if your voicemail message has a pause, leading the computerized system to believe it is time to leave a message before recording actually begins.

The Carpool Ladies wish to thank all carpool participants that have the children unbuckled, zipped-up, and ready to exit the car immediately.  It is especially appreciated during inclement weather.  As you might imagine, the worse the weather, the longer the carpool staff must endure it, as there are few to no walk-in parents under those conditions.  Thank you for your cooperation.
